GETTING TO Gigha
HOW TO GET HERE
Ferry, Drive, Train & Bus, Fly
Gigha is the most southerly of the Hebridean islands, but is very accessible and has excellent travel links.
Gigha can be explored by foot or bicycle using our great network of walking and cycle paths- we encourage you to leave your vehicle for free at the Tayinloan ferry car park on the mainland and help avoid congestion of traffic on Gigha's single track roads.
Caledonian MacBrayne runs a vehicle and passenger ferry to Gigha all year round. The sailing from Tayinloan, Kintyre, is only a 20-minute crossing.
Bookings can only be made by commercial vehicles and tickets can only be purchased once on board the ferry.
For ferry timetables and fares, please visit: Calmac timetables.
To find out more information please visit: Calmac Desintations Gigha.
Please note that caravans are not permitted on the island, and therefore not permitted on the ferry. Campervans and motorhomes are permitted.
Glasgow International Airport is the nearest airport to Gigha, just 2.5 hours drive from Tayinloan, Kintyre.
From the Airport, take the signs to Erskine Bridge (M8). Once across the bridge take the A82 Westbound to Dumbarton. Once through Dumbarton, keep on the A82 along the beautiful shores of Loch Lomond. At Tarbet, the A82 becomes the A83, signposted Campbeltown - follow this road through some of the most scenic countryside until you come to Tayinloan. The ferry is well signposted from the main road.
