OUR GIGHA & ME - FIND THE FURBOCHS
The Our Gigha & Me (OGAM) project is a community led research project exploring how to support the wellbeing of children and families in Gigha. The project was carried out with funding from the British Science Association's Ideas Fund between September 2021 and September 2022.
The project focused on supporting children and families in Gigha to design a series of activities to facilitate wellbeing and connecting with nature. The main project outcomes were a childrens book called "The Gigha Furboch" which was written about a shy but friendly creature who loved Gigha so much that he made it his home; a family of carved wooden Furbochs with a hut containing a variety of nature based activities that change with the seasons as the Furbochs travel to various destinations across the island; and a childrens den was built to provide a safe space to meet and play.
The furbochs and their hut can be found on the island using the map in the Visitor Hut and at Arminish Store. Once you find them, you can play with the activities in their hut and find each of the furboch family members.
